Darin Schanker

From the outset of his career as a trial attorney, Darin L. Schanker had a detailed plan for himself. Growing up in Colorado, he felt a duty to use his skills and abilities to shield the public from those motivated by money and power. Darin has worked hard to grow Bachus & Schanker, LLC into the nationally respected trial attorney firm that it is today.

Mr. Schanker’s primary profession is that of a trial lawyer. His cases are spread throughout the nation, and he has tried different types of injury cases as the lead counsel in many federal and state courts all over America. With a focus on his home state of Colorado, he has litigated and tried cases stretching from Alaska to Florida; New York to California. He has experience with cases involving defective medical devices, pharmaceuticals, medical malpractice, civil sex assault, negligent security, and car accidents.

Darin has had great success in court, including achieving the largest medical malpractice jury verdict ever in Colorado history, and the largest compensatory defective hip jury verdict in America.

Aside from traditional personal injury litigation, Mr. Schanker is also an expert in collective action and mass tort litigation. He has extensive experience with dangerous drugs and products, handling many complex cases that have gained national attention. These medical devices and products have been known to cause injuries: Biomet Hip Implants, Pinnacle Hip Implants, ASR Hip Implants, Taxotere, Hernia Mesh and IVC Filters.

Darin Schanker was the past president of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA) and, in 2003, he was named Outstanding Trial Attorney for the State of Colorado by said organization. The Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, founded in 1953, is the largest specialty bar association in the state. It strives to protect and enhance individual rights while also promoting skilled trial advocacy, high ethical standards and professionalism among its members. Ultimately, it seeks to improve America’s system of jurisprudence for everyone.

Over the years, Mr. Schanker has given countless lectures on trial skills to both local and national audiences. Darin’s abilities have been recognized by his peers at various institutions such as the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the Colorado Bar Association, and Harris Martin.

Mr. Schanker is an experienced and respected figure when it comes to voir dire, which is the process of jury selection. Darin knew that voir dire was a crucial component to the outcome of every trial, so he made it his mission to extensively study this subject. His methodology is so successful that attorneys all around the nation have decided to adopt it. Darin provides lectures and consultations to attorneys throughout the nation on this particular subject.

Darin has worked to create legislation that benefits consumers and has testified multiple times at the Capitol on topics related to insurance law with the goal of protecting consumer rights. His work on legislation has largely influenced the laws surrounding accidents and victims in Colorado.

In addition to his work in the courtroom, lecture hall, and Capitol, Mr. Schanker is also very community-oriented. Darin actively provides support to local non-profits through the Bachus & Schanker Cares Foundation– organizations which have a lasting and substantial effect on their respected communities. At Bachus & Schanker, we are committed to giving back and making a difference in the communities where we live and work. From supporting JAMLAC to volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, our team is dedicated to improving lives throughout Colorado. The Bachus & Schanker, LLC Cares Foundation is a proud supporter of Mothers against Drunk Driving and various other non-profit organizations. “When we started the firm, Kyle and I knew what we wanted to do. With minimal resources, and a great deal of hope and ambition, we set up shop in a single 10ft by 10ft office. We didn’t have much, but we knew this was where we were going to start our mission; to protect those without a voice, against those that had very little respect for humanity but a great deal of respect for profits. We are proud of what we have built, but by no means is our fight over.”
